About Amanda

Amanda is a licensed counselor in Texas and Montana who is passionate about supporting individuals and couples through the profound life transitions of pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. She offers a non-judgmental space for clients navigating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, birth trauma, and the unique stress of the NICU.

In her practice, Amanda utilizes a warm, integrative, and client-centered approach. By blending evidence-based therapies, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with mindfulness and body-based awareness, Amanda helps clients regulate their nervous systems, build coping skills, and feel truly understood and empowered as they heal.

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I am especially passionate about supporting people through major life transitions, like pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. In the past, I worked in medical clinics alongside primary care doctors. That experience shaped my belief that our physical health, life changes, and emotional well-being are all deeply connected. Seeing the complex physical and emotional changes that happen during pregnancy and the postpartum period inspired me to create a safe, supportive space where clients can feel understood and empowered to heal.

What types of clients do you typically work with?

I work mainly with individuals and couples who are navigating pregnancy, postpartum transitions, and the related mental health challenges. I frequently support clients dealing with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, pregnancy-related stress, and birth trauma. I also specialize in helping parents going through infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, and the stress of having a baby in the NICU. Additionally, I work with clients experiencing perinatal OCD and neurodivergence.

How would you describe your approach to therapy?

I am a compassionate and collaborative therapist. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based. This means I draw from a variety of proven therapies, like CBT, DBT, ACT, and solution-focused therapy, to best meet your unique needs. I also use mindfulness and body-based awareness to help you calm your nervous system and manage your emotions. Above all, I prioritize creating a safe, non-judgmental space where we can build a strong relationship and openly explore the challenges you are facing.

What can a client expect from their first session with you?

In our first session, you can expect a warm and compassionate environment. I want to start building a strong therapeutic relationship with you right away so you feel understood, supported, and empowered. I will take the time to learn about your specific goals, symptoms, and the life transitions you are going through. From there, we can work together to figure out the best practical coping skills and tools to help you move forward.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone struggling with their mental health, what would it be?

I would remind them that physical health, major life changes, and mental well-being are all connected. It is completely normal to face challenges during big life transitions, like having a baby. My advice is to be gentle with yourself and remember that you do not have to navigate these hard times alone. Reaching out for a supportive, non-judgmental space is a brave first step.

What do you hope clients take away from their work with you?

I hope my clients walk away feeling understood, supported, and empowered. I want them to gain deep insight into their own lives and leave with practical tools for dealing with life's challenges. Ultimately, I hope they learn how to regulate their emotions, process their experiences, and feel confident as they navigate big life transitions.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Outside of the therapy room, I am a big animal lover. I currently have two cats, two golden retrievers, and a fish. I love spending time outdoors whenever I can, especially hiking and exploring new places with my dogs. Also, a fun fact about me is that I have spent several summers working on a boat in Alaska!
