About Liz

As a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified perinatal mental health professional, Liz specializes in supporting individuals and couples throughout the perinatal journey, including pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, birth trauma, pregnancy and infant loss, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She also supports clients navigating identity shifts, relationship challenges, and the many changes that accompany parenthood. Her work extends beyond the therapy room through her involvement with the Snuggle House Foundation and Postpartum Support International, where she provides group support, advocacy, education, and community outreach for families during the perinatal period.

Liz's work is grounded in attachment theory, meaning she helps clients explore how their early relationships and past experiences can shape the way they understand themselves, connect with others, and respond to challenges today. She integrates attachment-based and emotionally focused approaches with cognitive and relational interventions, tailoring treatment to each client's unique needs. Whether you're navigating a difficult transition, healing from trauma or loss, or hoping to strengthen your relationship during the transition to parenthood, Liz offers a safe space to slow down and move toward deeper connection and healing.

I don't just treat symptoms; I support the whole person and their relationships at the same time.

β€” Liz's philosophy

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I wanted to become a therapist to hold space for the full emotional experience of parenthood, including pregnancy, loss, and the huge identity shifts that come with it. Through my own journey to motherhood and my community work with organizations like the Snuggle House Foundation and Postpartum Support International, I saw how much families need a safe place to land. I want to make sure no one has to go through these massive life transitions alone.

What types of clients do you typically work with?

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C). I work with individuals and couples across the full path to parenthood. This includes supporting people through pregnancy, postpartum, birth trauma, miscarriage, and infant loss. I also help clients who are navigating mood and anxiety disorders, identity changes, and relationship challenges related to starting or growing a family.

How would you describe your approach to therapy?

My approach is warm, relational, and trauma-informed. I don't just treat symptoms; I support the whole person and their relationships at the same time. My style is attachment-based and integrative. This means I look at how your early relationships, emotional bonds, and patterns of connection shape your life today. I draw from multiple proven methods, including emotionally focused therapy. I strive to balance my clinical expertise with a deeply relational and culturally attuned style.

What can a client expect from their first session with you?

You can expect a warm, welcoming, and affirming space where you will feel seen and supported. We will talk about what you are experiencing right now, but we will go at your pace. I focus on culturally responsive and trauma-responsive care, which means your unique story and background are completely honored here. It is a no-judgment zone meant to help you feel safe enough to begin your healing journey.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone struggling with their mental health, what would it be?

Please know that you do not have to carry the heavy mix of love, grief, or anxiety by yourself. The massive transitions of building a family bring up intense emotions, and feeling overwhelmed does not mean you are failing. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, and with the right care, you can find your footing and feel like yourself again.

What do you hope clients take away from their work with you?

I hope my clients walk away feeling truly empowered, resilient, and deeply connected, both to themselves and to the people they love. My goal is to help you build deep insight and stronger relationships so you can experience meaningful, lasting healing that stays with you long after our sessions end.

Is there anything else that you'd like to share?

I love bridging community advocacy with one-on-one care, whether that's through leading support groups or doing educational presentations. I am honored to offer a unique combination of warmth and clinical skills to help you feel safe and supported.
