Perinatal mental health therapy covered by Aetna

Using your Aetna benefits
Phoenix Health is in-network with Aetna, which means your mental health benefits apply directly, without you having to deal with out-of-network claims or superbills. Our therapists are PMH-C certified and specialize in perinatal mental health, including postpartum depression, perinatal anxiety, and birth trauma. One thing that confuses a lot of people: your insurance card might not say Aetna at all. If it says CVS Health, Meritain Health, or First Health, those are all the same network. Same benefits, same coverage, same therapists. Before your first session, our team verifies your specific plan details, including your deductible status, your specialist copay, and whether any prior authorization is required. Under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, your Aetna plan is required to cover behavioral health services at the same level it covers medical care. For most Aetna plans, that means a specialist copay (typically $20 to $50) once your deductible is met, and sessions are FSA and HSA eligible. If you want to double-check before calling us, dial the member services number on your insurance card and ask: 'Do I have in-network mental health benefits, and what is my specialist copay?' We're also happy to do this legwork for you. It's one of the first things we handle after you schedule your free consultation.

Psychologist & Founder
From our founder
When I had my first child, I was shocked by the challenges I faced as a new mother.
Like so many women, the shame of postpartum depression and anxiety kept me silent for nearly two years. When I began working with postpartum clients, I was struck by how many stories were so similar to my own.
I founded Phoenix Health to make it easier for new mothers like me to find the right help.
Our specialists who accept Aetna

Common questions
- Most Aetna plans cover telehealth behavioral health sessions at the same rate as in-person care under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. Phoenix Health verifies your specific plan benefits before your first session. Your out-of-pocket cost typically depends on your deductible and copay structure.
- PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification) is awarded by Postpartum Support International (PSI) to clinicians who have completed advanced training in perinatal mental health — covering postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, birth trauma, and related conditions. It represents the gold standard of specialization in this field.
- If you're struggling — with your mood, your thoughts, your relationship, or just how you're coping — that's enough of a reason to talk to someone. You don't need a diagnosis. A free consultation is a low-commitment first step.
